8.5 mile – Perkiomen Trail This pedestrian/bike/equestrian
trail is being completed using both Part 1 – 8.5 mile trail on/off an abandoned railbed. Off railbed parts generally follow the Perkiomen Creek. The project includes re-decking of two large railroad bridges. The trail crosses three signalized intersections and includes 8 at-grade state road crossings. The work includes four new bridge structures, two of which span the Perkiomen Creek (175 feet and 400 feet). Part 2 – Cantilevered pedestrian sidewalk structure to be installed on a 450-foot long railroad bridge at Oaks PA. Part 3 – Rehabilitation of an historic seven span stone masonry arch pedestrian bridge near Green Lane Park. The Montgomery County Planning Commission retained Wilson Consulting in 2002 to engineer and manage this project through various agencies. The trail portion of the
project is being constructed as a design-build project with County forces
undertaking the construction. Overall, Wilson Consulting provided the following services:
